Rob Knowles

Walking is Our Passion

Rob Knowles is the founder of Walk Wild Wales. His love of the Welsh landscape and history started as a child on family holidays in the 1950s at Capelulo, a hamlet at the southern end of the Sychnant Pass near Penmaenmawr in North Wales. When the sun shone days were spent of the beach on other days long walks were taken in the Carneddau hills exploring and enjoying the landscape.

Experience Counts

Rob's first long-distance walks were the Sandstone Trail (Cheshire) and Offa's Dyke. Annually Rob leads a walk along the Beacons Way (96 miles/8 days) for the Brecon Beacons National Park. Additionally Rob has led groups along the Cambrian Way (257 miles); the Cotswold Way (103 miles); the Glyndwr's Way (121 miles); the Usk Valley Way (50 miles); the Wye Valley Way (132 miles); the Coed Morgannwg Way (36 miles); the Taff Trail (55 miles); the Lleyn Peninsula Coastal Path (90 miles), Hadrian's Wall (81 miles), the Dyfi Valley Way (108 miles) and walks in Northern Ireland (Mourne Way and Lecale Way).

Rob holds the BELA (Basic Expedition Leaders Award), the NNAS (National Navigation Award Scheme, to Gold level); the GWLA ( Walking Group Leader Award Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) Approved); the National Park Guided Walk Leaders Award as well as current First Aid Certificate.
